Volunteers Clearing Land to Plant Elephant Food

This past week Volunteers have been hard at work clearing land just down the hill from base hut. We are clearing this patch of land to plant our very own elephant food!
The plan is to clear the land, put up a fence to keep out those pesky water buffalo, and then plant an assortment of elephant food including grass and watermelons. In the future, instead of driving down the road twice a week to cut grass for the elephants, we can cut elephant food right in our own back yard. This will help us save money, consume less carbon fuel and ensure that our wonderful elephants are properly fed.
Today, volunteers spent time digging holes and putting up fence posts. This is really tiring work but volunteers have been especially motivated to get the fence up and have the food planted within the next few weeks.
