Welcome to the Team Sateesh!

Hi,

My name is Sateesh Venkatesh and I am the new volunteer leader for the GVI thai elephant project. I graduated from the College of Wooster with a Degree in Biology that focused on animal behaviour as well as ecology and conservation.

In the past I have worked at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphange in Niarobi Kenya. I have also done work in the Western Ghats in India on rainforest reconstruction including elephant movements between fragments and conflict with villagers.

The GVI Thai Elephant project is a great opportunity to get close contact with elephants and participate in a long term scientific study. In addition living in a rural Karen community you gain a personal understanding and knowledge of elephants from a people who have worked with elephants for over 300 years.
