Talia's Internship

Hi my name is Talia. I am from Vancouver, Canada. I just graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelors of animal biology. During my internship here in Thailand I will be leading elephant foraging behaviour research. After collecting data, photos, and samples I hope to identify as many plant species as possible and gather detailed information about the top 10-15 species consumed by the elephants. In the end, a field manual will be created to be used by volunteers. I also hope to use this research in order to better inform elephant camps and other elephant related organizations about the importance of a varied diet in order to improve their elephant’s welfare. In addition, I will also be leading volunteers teaching English at the primary school to grades 4-5, as well as performing health checks on Song Kran.
